Millenium Development Goals

» What are the MDGs?
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) represent an ambitious agenda for reducing poverty and improving lives set by world leaders at the Millennium Summit in September 2000. For each goal one or more targets have been set, most for 2015, using 1990 as a benchmark.

» MDGs in the Pacific Region
A regional Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) workshop was held in Nadi, Fiji, in March 2003 to initiate the MDG process in the region. The workshop was co-organised by UNDP, Asian Development Bank, UK-DFID and the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat with participants from 15 countries in the region.

» MDG Reports
MDG reports are prepared at country and regional levels to engage political leaders, civil society organisations, media and communities to trigger action towards achievement of the MDGs.
