» UN Pacific Framework for Action
The United Nations Pacific Framework for Action sets out the strategic focus for the UN’s commitment to the Pacific Islands region from 2008 to 2012. It was developed following discussions and responses to a policy White Paper which was the first stage in a process of consultation with governments and stakeholders, including development partners. The process aims to build partnerships for development in line with Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 8. The strategic directions outlined in the Framework for Action will be integrated into a formal United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) by March 2007. The Pacific Framework for Action is the first regional approach of its kind in the UN system. It will assist the UN to identify and concentrate on common development approaches for Pacific people in areas where it can make the most significant contribution. Collaboration among UN agencies, programmes and offices in the region in implementing the Framework for Action will help ensure that strategic directions are in line with national and regional priorities, policies and plans.
